The Wild Life of Spirit Bears

Seeing a spirit bear in the Great Bear Rainforest is always exciting. But when the fishing action heats up, it really gets the adrenaline flowing.

During the autumn salmon run is generally the only time of year we can realiably find spirit bears. This amounts to a few short weeks each season. Which means, we only ever see the smallest sliver of their lives. We may get to see the same individual bears every year for a decade or much more, but, in reality, we know very little about them.

How I would love to follow this bear around for a year to discover his various seasonal haunts. Then again, it is also nice to think of these bears roaming the rainforest with very little contact with humanity for the majority of their days. In today’s world, there are very few places where a bear can live such a wild life.
