With or without sea wolves
This was a rare occasion when I was out in the wild with a camera but I was not guiding. It rained unrelentingly every day I was out there. I could have cared less. In fact, I was a bit giddy. After 20 years of guiding in the rainforest, a little rain does not get me down. What gets me down is worrying that our guests are uncomfortable and unhappy. I was soaked, yes, but without anybody else to worry about, I felt free as a bird and happy as a clam.
I wasn’t even concerned about seeing a wolf, which also felt like a luxury because when I am guiding everybody is concerned with seeing a wolf.
It was early spring and I was not at my desk. Townsend’s and Orange-crowned warblers were singing and flitting about in the trees behind me as I watched the tide ebb and flood. I had already won. And then this wolf showed up.
