Spirit bear enigma

This Spirit bear is an enigma. Known as Warrior, we used to see her regularly on one of the creeks we work on. But in the last few years, she has shown up very sporadically or not at all.

She appears to be a healthy female, and yet we’ve never seen her with cubs. Perhaps when she has a litter, she stays away from the creek to protect her cubs from the other bears and wolves that congregate to hunt salmon. Who knows? This bear definitely leaves you with more questions than answers. In a lot of ways is very fitting for these rare and mysterious bears.
