Warrior is back!

ByTim Irvin September 10, 2022January 29, 2023
Warrior the spirit bear near a waterfall

This spirit bear has not been seen since 2020, when she was picked up on a trial camera. To say we are excited and relieved to know she is alive and well is an extraordinary understatement. When she appeared Friday afternoon the excitement in the air among the guides reached a fevered pitch with big high-fives and double-triple-quadruple fist pumps. When she appeared, the excitement in the air was palpable: there were big high fives, massive fist pumps and huge smiles all around.

We only ever see a small portion of these bears’ lives – and only during the brief salmon season. From one year to the next we never know which bears we will see again. Most of their lives are a mystery to us. So it is always tremendously exciting when these bears show up each fall – especially if they have been absent for a year.
