I have had the good fortune of taking many groups of people into the Great Bear Rainforest to observe the spectacular wildlife of the region. For many of these folks, seeing a spirit bear is on the top of their wish list. And no wonder – spirit bears are rare, elusive and beautiful. Somehow, it is always startling when a bear with white fur appears out of the dark green rainforest.
But they can also be hard to find. On many days we’ve spent hours looking and hoping without so much as a glimpse of white fur. This gallery has some highlights from the days we got lucky and had some breathtaking encounters.
New for 2015: Spirit Bear Tours
I have teamed up with Marven Robinson of the Gitga’at First Nation to offer two spirit bear watching and photography trips in the very heart of spirit bear territory.
